This is an absolutely beautiful pair of vintage/retro pillowcases made of fine handkerchief linen. I remember sleeping on pillowcases like these at my Grandmother's house when I was a little girl back in the 1950's. I think this pair has been in someone's collection for quite a number of years. Measuring 20" x 29" they feature a blue butterfly and accompanying flowers made of out silky looking thread (machine done). Another inch of length is added when you count in the elegant hand crocheted lace around the edges. It was made using the lovely variegated blue thread. With a row of 'drawn' or 'pulled' work between the butterfly & the lace, they are, indeed, elegant pieces. Other than a few faint 'age related' marks on or near the folds which may soak out.
